Some of my absolute favorite beauty products are from less popular companies and women-run small businesses. But, as the market expands and more people branch out into the beauty industry, it gets harder to sift out the good products from the BEST products.

Below, I have rounded up a list of my tried-and-true, absolute favorite items from concealer to perfume!

Onomie || Bright Concealing Elixir, $26, available at Onomie.
Onomie has quickly gained cult status among beauty editors for their amazing eye-care products, and the Bright Concealing Elixir just can’t be topped. The correcting concealer not only helps to hide dark circles, but it also uses botanicals and antioxidants to improve their appearance over time. Tired, over-worked girlfriend with more than 2 jobs- I’m looking at you.

Captain Blankenship || Mermaid Hair Oil, $34, available at Captain Blankenship

Jana Blankenship grew up spending every summer in the tiny coastal town of Sorrento, Maine.  Captain Blankenship was born out of Jana’s desire to create organic beauty products that create a direct link with nature.  Our mantra at Captain Blankenship is ‘beauty wild with nature’.  Captain Blankenship is a small, women-run company in the Hudson River Valley that formulates their products with only organic and wild-harvested ingredients.  They never use synthetic preservatives, parabens, sulfates or fragrance, and they use recyclable and reusable glass packaging, making a positive environmental impact.  My favorite, the Mermaid Hair Oil, is the perfect remedy for curly/frizzy hair, and can also be used as a scalp treatment that helps promotes hair growth.

Forager Botanicals || Island Lei – Natural Organic Perfume, $98, available at
Forager Botanicals is a natural fragrance and beauty company focused on creating beautiful products using all natural ingredients.  Casey Coyle, a Brooklyn graphic designer and art director, has been working in the beauty industry for many years.  When she was a little girl Casey used to make her own perfumes out of water and flower petals from her grandmother’s garden.  When she was pregnant with her daughter, Casey became turned off  by the overpowering scents and harmful ingredients in many mainstream beauty products.  Casey longed for simpler more natural scents like these, and developed the products for Forager for women seeking the same.  Forager Natural Organic Perfume (in Island Lei) is light and feminine, and has notes of tropical flowers, sandalwood and vanilla.  It’s the perfect beachy scent, without smelling like sunscreen.
Fun side note, if you send in your empty Forager Botanicals perfume bottle, they off you a 20% discount on your next perfume purchase, to help reduce packaging waste.
